About ScarKord

After co-founding the production collective Clear Air Turbulence with my friend and long time collaborator Cosmo Valseca, I formed ScarKord in 2001 as an outlet for producing remixes.

Someone recently described my remixes as "not sounding like remixes... they sound like they were intended to be written like that".

I like to think of them more as collaborations if I'm honest and I really do try to do something unique with the source material.

If you like the sound of that, get in contact.

A brief history

The first official ScarKord release was a remix of Donkey Tugger's 'Losing', and this was featured on the soundtrack to the short film 'Burnt Sienna', released in 2004. This was soon followed by an original ScarKord track 'Cosmonaut', which appeared on the Annexia compilation album, released in 2005. Around this time, I also collaborated with George Fox aka UTM on a new arrangement of his track 'Get By'.

After completing a number of unofficial Jesus Jones remixes, one of which was voted 'Best fan mix' by members of the Jesus Jones forum, the ScarKord remix of 'Culture Vulture' was made available for exclusive download from the Jesus Jones website.

A remix of the Queen Mary track 'Nothing' was released in May 2007 on the Synthvox compilation and can also be found in remastered form on Mary Pastorius's retrospective album 'From then until almost now...'

My reworking of the OursVince track 'Around' was made available to download from Jamendo as part of the Autour d'Around remix album. The reworking has subsequently been featured on both a rock climbing video and a falconry documentary.

Early 2010 saw me release the first original ScarKord material since Cosmonaut with the Thud Funk and Throwing Stones EP's, followed by my debut live performance at Hidden Away Electronic in London which featured tracks from both EP's.

In November 2010, the R and R World website selected me as a featured artist on their podcast, showcasing the track 'It is Forbidden' from the Throwing Stones EP.

Most recently, I took on a remix of Ariel Aparico's track 'Lucille' through a remix competition on the AcidPlanet website and won! Ariel and I are now bouncing a few ideas around which will hopefully turn into a full collaboration in the near future.
