On Friday night (23rd June), I had the privilege of seeing Thomas Dolby perform live in his first UK gig for 14 years (and I was actually at his last one too, back in 1992). He played a fantastic electronic based set. Most of the songs were updated or had new arrangements, but fortunately this didn't mean they had merely been augmented with the "dancebeat of the month", just made a bit more current. And there was some phenominal sub bass going on in there.

Even more impressive was the way in which he built some songs from the ground up, including a corking version of 'Hyperactive', programming the beats and basslines then looping them and layering multiple keyboard parts on top. It was all captured on a head mounted camera and projected to the audience. Great stuff!
