I formed ScarKord back in 2001, initially as an outlet for producing remixes and have spent the intervening years writing electronic music as a semi-serious hobby.
I’ve remixed a wide range of artists over that time including Plaid, Squarepusher, Gary Numan, Jesus Jones, Mary Pastorius, Savage Sound System, Ariel Aparicio and Oursvince to name but a few. In addition to Plaid, other key influences for me are Meat Beat Manifesto and Orbital/Paul Hartnoll, just to give you an idea of where I’m coming from.
I’m also a founding member of the Clear Air Turbulence collective which I formed with my musical twin, Cosmo Valseca. Cosmo has very much taken the reins on that particular project of late and assembled a very talented group of artists who collaborate on each others work.
Oh, and as you can see, I’m clearly not Scarlxrd, regardless of Google suggesting I am. Indeed, he would have been only 6 or 7 when I started this!
Currently I’m just enjoying writing and remixing again, and have made a conscious decision not to worry too much about the whole self-promotion thing (despite Google doing it’s best to support me). When you reach the point that you spend more time trying to sell your music than actually writing anything, it’s time to re-evaluate what you are doing.
So for now I’m just focusing on creating interesting electronic soundscapes and seeing where that takes me. If I come up with anything half decent, I’ll be sure to put it up on my Soundcloud page.
